This advertisement is for CURRENT TRAINEES (Continuing Trainees) who commenced accredited RCPA training in Anatomical Pathology on or before February 2025 and were appointed through a centralised recruitment process. What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the role is to extend and enhance existing knowledge and technical skills to fulfill the requirements of the RCPA for training in Anatomical Pathology to become a competent consultant Anatomical Pathologist; and to fulfill the service requirements of the department.
Duties are likely to include:
- Assisting consultant Pathologists in the work-up, interpretation and reporting of Histo- and Cyto- pathological specimens.
- Notifying and discussing results with clinicians.
- Laboratory-based specimen handling.
- Providing advice to clinicians regarding Anatomical Pathology.
- Attending and participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
- Participating in research.
Positions across the State-wide Anatomical Pathology Training Program are networked. Positions at larger laboratories (anchor sites) may be rotational with partner laboratories on a 6-month / 6-month basis.

Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Evidence of general registration and 24 months of clinical experience OR hold an Overseas Trained Specialist determination issued by the RCPA.
- Demonstrated satisfactory acquisition of skills and competencies as specified in the Anatomical Pathology curriculum of the RCPA, appropriate to training level.
- Demonstrated progress in Anatomical Pathology training, including supervisor's reports, success in exams or completion of research.
- Demonstrated participation in quality improvement initiatives relevant to Anatomical Pathology.
- Demonstrated experience in working in a multidisciplinary team environment including improvement in patient care.
- Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
