What you'll be doing

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant 1 to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring of wounds. Experience in wound care, including the ability to assess, clean, and dress wounds, is essential for this role.

Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 (CNC1) means:a registered nurse appointed as such to a position approved by the Health Service, who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the Health Service.  

The CNC EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) will be the clinical leader in the management of EB patients. The CNC is to ensure effective transitioning and management of EB patients and their families to the St George Hospital and broader clinical environment. The responsibilities include assessments, coordination and treatment within the community and the hospital, liaising with families and the multidisciplinary team regarding care, decision making and management. Responsibilities within the healthcare environment will include consultancy, advice, research and education. The CNC is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates research based clinical practice models that are creative, visionary and relevant. In addition the role will provide regular updates to the Australasian EB registry as required and aid in the strategic planning and future development of the EB service. The CNC will ensure that the service fosters excellence in clinical, educational, research and professional leadership.

All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Driver’s License (if required by service).
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post graduate qualification experience and/or a post graduate qualification in field of practice.
  3. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and knowledge of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  5. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence based research.
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
  7. Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
  8. Ability to apply clinical expertise in client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
