  • Are you motivated to advocate and support for safe and comprehensive client care (adults and children impacted by DFV)? Are you ready to support and advise Health staff in relation to DFV, DVRS, SAMs, NFS and TBI?

About the Opportunity 
The role provides the opportunity to understand the local and statewide policy and framework DFV. It offers the opportunity to influence, develop and implement DFV reforms in the LHD. Work with a dynamic team of VAN managers and across the LHD. The role works collaboratively with Health and other agency partners. 

 

What You'll be Doing
This position is responsible for leading the South Western Sydney Local Health District response for Safer Pathway (Safety Action Meetings) NSW Domestic & Family Violence Reforms in collaboration with relevant clinical services.

The position will collaborate with relevant SWSLHD workforce and key interagency partners to work in an integrated manner to reduce threats to adult and children victims of domestic and family violence and ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes that are consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
The role has a strong focus on managing the Safety Action Meeting processes and includes provision and coordination of domestic violence related clinical supervision and workforce education.
The position is expected to provide leadership in quality activities, manage specific projects, and assist in human resource management and other relevant departmental administrative duties.

  1. Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised  under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  2. A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  3. Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, leadership, coordination and management of significant projects
  4. Demonstrated high level skills, experience and use of high level professional judgement in providing responses to victims of domestic and family violence and their children and knowledge of health service delivery and referral options for these clients; including legislative and policy context.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to work in partnership and consult with key multidisciplinary and interagency stakeholders to provide a victim and child protection focused response which aims to increase safety at individual and systemic levels.
  6. Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker in child and family setting, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting, complex health conditions and the impact on wellbeing.
  7. Demonstrated ability to contribute to evaluation and encourage the translation of research and evaluation into practice.
  8. Demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding domestic and family violence in priority populations including Aboriginal communities, and CALD communities.
  9. Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementing, leading and evaluating of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidenced based practice within health setting.
  10. Demonstrated advanced communication skills (verbal and written), including excellent negotiation, complex decision making and advocacy skills and demonstrated computer skills.
  11. Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
