Selection Criteria:

  1. Holds a medical qualification eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrics with Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health Division), and appropriate knowledge and clinical experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in child abuse and neglect including child sexual assault.
  2. Completed forensic medicine training (or be enrolled and studying towards forensic medicine qualifications within 6 months of commencing in the role)*: • Graduate Diploma in Forensic Medicine (4 semesters part-time; 8 subjects) OR Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Forensic Medicine (2 semesters part-time; 4 subjects). • NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) vocational medical and forensic training including Child Sexual Assault Skills, Forensic Photography, Supervised Medico-Legal (including report writing and presentation of evidence specific to the PANOC context) or equivalent.
  3. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and with a wide range of stakeholders, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills including use of information technology.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to respond appropriately to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and experience in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes, models of care, evidence-based practice, and practice development.
  6. Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and provide clinical supervision including the ability to provide education, vision and research would be viewed favourably.
  7. Ability to be available to consult regarding crisis presentations, including willingness to be involved in roster for child sexual abuse.
  8. Evidence of current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.


This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2022_030

Applicants must have completed the COVID-19 vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

ASARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 3 doses are required for Category A positions (refer to NSW Policy Directive PD2022_030 Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.
