Sydney Local Health District is seeking highly motivated Senior Resident Medical Officers to join the Radiology Department at Concord Hospital

 

What you will be doing

The primary purpose of the SRMO is to assist accredited Radiology Trainees with their rostered responsibilities. SRMOs will be taught, observe and participate in all stages of the radiological examination of patients including referral, triaging, prescribing oral or intra-venous contrast, checking for allergies, supervision, assisting with, performance and communication of the procedure.

By the end of training, the SRMO should be able to assist in providing an effective radiology service to patients under supervision, whilst having participated in medical and imaging practice in a complex clinical environment. There will be opportunities to participate in research and audit projects, as well as participate in departmental teaching and clinical meetings, giving an excellent grounding for a future career in medical imaging.

 

The Department of Radiology

The Department of Radiology at Concord Hospital provides general/specialized imaging cover to the hospital, and has a dedicated booking service for outpatients and local doctor referrals.

Concord Radiology offers a comprehensive range of services which include:

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (3T MRI)
  • Angiography
  • Interventional procedures
  • Mammography
  • CT scanning (including cardiac CT)
  • General Radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Fluoroscopy

Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. We offer a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as Centre’s of excellence.   1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Minimum two years post-graduate clinical experience including medical ward rotations and good term assessments.
  3. Demonstrated interest in radiology training with some evidence of experience or study in relation to relevant disciplines.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a complex health care setting with proven time management and problem solving skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
  6. Excellent written, verbal and multimedia skills, in order to interact effectively with patients, referrers, colleagues and other team members.
  7. Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of on- going learning, teaching activities potential involvement with projects and research publications.
  8. Understanding quality improvement principles, commitment to CME, audit, implementation of practice improvement initiatives.
