Clinical Psychologist - ($53.23 - $64.88) per hour

Psychologist - ($37.69- $55.17) per hour

Senior Psychologist - ($58.08 - $62.94) per hour

Social Work Level 1-4 - ($35.77 - $60.71) per hour

About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region. 

 

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).


The Aboriginal Safe Wayz Clinician is responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal adults, young people and children who have been sexually assaulted or who are under the age of 10 years with problematic harmful sexual behaviours. The role will also work with Aboriginal communities, organisations and relevant stakeholders to develop integrated prevention and response strategies. 

This position will work with the Safe Wayz Coordinator to implement the Aboriginal Action Plan linked to the Safe Wayz Pathway for children under 10 with Problematic and Harmful Sexualised Behaviours. 

This position is offered as a Temporary Part Time role until June 30, 2026.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as an Aboriginal person and be accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
  2. Accepted qualifications include: Social Work : Qualification in Social Work which provides eligibility for full membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Psychology: General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and, for Senior Psychologist, a current Senior Psychologist or eligible for Senior Psychologist grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate) and, for Clinical Psychologist, an accredited Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with endorsement or working towards endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  3. Experience providing culturally appropriate trauma focused therapeutic supports for Aboriginal individuals and families in regards to sensitive issues.
  4. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement, and collaborations.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of intergenerational trauma, colonisation, sexual assault, domestic violence and child protection.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a therapeutic team and to manage competing tasks in a busy service.
  8. Current NSW Drivers Licence and ability to participate in the 24/7 crisis on-call service.



Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
