We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Finance Manager to partner with our department managers to drive performance outcomes, analyse data, and foster collaborative relationships. In this role, you will leverage your understanding of cost drivers and performance metrics to partner with leadership in making data-driven decisions that lead to improved outcomes. You will also play an integral part in mentoring and developing junior finance professionals, while providing support to a centralised team responsible for reporting and performance analysis. We are a flexible team who are willing to work around the right candidate. Days/hours are negotiable to suit your personal life. 

Our Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Commerce, and/or proven experience as a Management Accountant. Being more than just about numbers, you will:

  • Be able to analyse financial data to identify changes in trends and variation
  • Strong communication skills with key stakeholders from various professions to educate and influence outcomes
  • Take full responsibility of your role and work autonomously, and part of a wider team
  • Have a proactive approach when it comes to finance, analysis and reporting
  • Process varying perspectives to understand cost drivers and determine appropriate actions
  • CA/CPA - desirable, however not essential


About the role:
In this role, you will work closely with service managers, clinicians, and key stakeholders to identify opportunities for delivering efficient, high-quality outcomes while understanding the correlation between activity levels and cost changes. You will be responsible for analysing both financial and non-financial data, providing insights, and offering advice to internal and external stakeholders. This includes tasks such as costing business cases, projecting financial results, and assisting with month-end processing.

You will receive support and guidance from Finance Managers and the Senior Finance Manager, who will help you develop a strong understanding of the organisation and ensure you meet key deadlines. As part of a collaborative team, you will have access to diverse perspectives to help drive effective decision-making and deliver required outcomes.


Where you'll be working:

You will be working in the Mental Health Finance and Performance team based at The Mater in Waratah. The team consists of Finance Managers, Finance Officers and a Performance Analyst. We are a collaborative and supportive team who provide professional development opportunities, regular training and check-ins to suit your needs.
