What you'll be doing
An exciting opportunity is now available to join the  Drug & Alcohol After Hours Services Team located at Nepean.

This Clinical Nurse Consultant position will provide a specialised consultation and liaison role for patients within the Emergency Department Nepean Hospital.

The successful candidate will support current consultation services throughout the other LHD facilities, stakeholders and partner organisations. There is a focus on delivering evidence based clinical interventions within best practice models of care to achieve good clinical outcomes for patients. The position will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.

A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form). 
 
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.



Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Nurse.
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in Drug and Alcohol and post graduate qualifications in Drug and Alcohol and has recent hospital experience.
  3. Demonstrated effective communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  4. Proven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research.
  5. Demonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural change processes.
  6. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and experience in the development of specialty education programs.
  7. Demonstrated clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently.
  8. A current NSW driver's licence, and willingness to use same as required for the position.
