What you'll be doing
This position is an accredited Addiction Medicine training position including a possible rotation to the Public Health Unit.
Addiction Medicine: To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
Public Health Medicine: Trainees will have the opportunity to spend 6-12 months working within the Public Health Unit. During this time the purpose will be to provide public health management in response to notifiable conditions and outbreaks, in collaboration with teams in the Public Health Unit, and undertake projects that address health protection priorities in SESLHD.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and at least 3 years postgraduate years of medical practice and enrolled or eligible to enrol in AChAM (RACP), AFPHM (RACP) or GP Training programs
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to further education and practice in addiction medicine or public health medicine
- Demonstrated commitment to harm minimisation philosophies
- Demonstrated experience working with clients with issues related to drug or alcohol use
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care
- Demonstrated high level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly
