The Environmental Health Regulation Unit has an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Policy Officer to join its team of capable policy analysts. If you wish to be involved in a dynamic and interesting area where you can make an impact by developing environmental health policy, regulation, and provide important advice to industry stakeholders, then this is the role for you. The role provides a unique opportunity to acquire new skills and gain experience in the areas of cooling water systems, skin penetration, final arrangements of the deceased, and anatomy facilities.
Health Manager level 3, starting salary from $127, 150 - $144, 444 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing expert advice on environmental health policy and legislation
- Working with and influencing other government agencies to deliver evidence-based legislation and policy to address environmental health
- Managing several projects concurrently with varying timelines and workloads and achieving project deadlines and program milestones, to the required standards and targets, within budget/allocations and with limited staff support
- Reviewing and summarising evidence succinctly and with expertise.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Master of Public Health or other relevant qualifications in environmental health, public health, and science
- Extensive experience in public and environmental health issues as they relate to environmental health regulation policy development and management
- Demonstrated ability to critically appraise scientific evidence
- High-level interpersonal, negotiation and written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
