About the role

This role supports the Principal Advisors in coordinating and implementing the Nursing and Midwifery Office's workforce strategies. The role is also required to provide professional nursing advice to Local Health Districts and Specialty Networks (LHD/N) and a range of entities and individuals on behalf of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and the Ministry of Health and Mental Health.
Nurse Manager Grade 3, starting salary from $$139,661.16 - $142,254.44 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 38-hour work week.
What you will do
You will be using your experience and knowledge of the nursing and midwifery workforce and the NSW Health system to support a wide range of projects and strategies, These involve project planning, critical thinking and problem solving, and communicating with stakeholders including other ministry branches and nursing workforce managers
- Actively participate in identifying and implementing innovative strategies to support and develop the nursing and midwifery workforce to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide professional advice to LHD/Ns, Educational institutions, individuals, and external organisations on nurse education, nursing careers, recruitment, employment, and vocational education and training.
- Support LHD/Ns in their implementation of innovative strategies.
- Provide timely high level expert advice to the Ministry, the Minister and other sections of Government on issues relating to nursing careers, practice, education and recruitment to ensure policy outcomes meet POSITION DESCRIPTION Project Officer - Nursing and Midwifery PD043057 - 2 workforce requirements.
- Prepare ministerial briefings, correspondence, responses to parliamentary questions, speech notes and discussion papers as required.
- Participate on working parties and advisory committees as required to assist the work of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer and NaMO.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Current registration (Midwifery or Nursing Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated broad nursing and/or midwifery background and knowledge of nursing and midwifery issues in the NSW Health system.
- Demonstrated high level conceptual and analytical skills and ability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.
- Demonstrated capacity to undertake a diverse range of tasks, find creative solutions, be flexible, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Work Health and Safety (WH&S), Professional Practice and other legislative requirements.
