Key skills required

  1. Tertiary qualifications in public health or other relevant discipline.
  2. Understanding of the Australian health care system, including the role of government in the management of communicable diseases and environmental health risks.
  3. Understanding of policy development and project management, and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Understanding and commitment to the CORE values of NSW Health (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment).

COVID 19 Vaccination requirement 

Under the Public Health (COVID 19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order 2021, Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination will now be required for all NSW Health staff and individuals engaged through third party providers to work with NSW Health with first vaccination required by 30 September 2021 and second vaccination by 30 November 2021 in order to continue to work for NSW Health.

If you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccination, you need to book now:

  • NSW Health vaccination clinics and participating general practices and pharmacies across the state are open for COVID-19 vaccination bookings.
  • You can also book by visiting the Australian Government eligibility checker.

If you have already received your COVID-19 vaccinations (both doses):

  • You are required by the Public Health Order to provide evidence of your vaccination status prior to commencing employment with NSW Health.

If you have a Medical Reason you cannot be vaccinated:

  • A COVID-19 Vaccine Medical Contraindication form must be completed by a GP or Medical Practitioner. 
  • An exemption to the Public Health Order requirements will only be considered if you are unable, due to a medical contraindication, to be vaccinated against COVID-19. You will only be granted an exemption if you have medical contraindications to the available COVID-19 vaccines.
