Selection Criteria 

  1. Qualifications in medicine (with current registration in NSW) and public health or other relevant discipline.
  2. High level understanding and extensive knowledge of the development, implementation and management of health policy, programs and information management and surveillance systems.
  3. Demonstrated high-level expertise in epidemiology or biostatistics, and the application of these methods to health policy and practice.
  4. Substantial knowledge and experience of health data collections and the use of data to manage and monitor policy and programs.
  5. Demonstrated high level capacity to set and manage competing priorities and to deliver high quality products within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  6. Medical leadership skills and experience in providing high level policy advice and recommendations on complex clinical and population health issues at executive level.
  7. Excellent risk assessment, mitigation and communication skills, especially between the community, clinicians and population health personnel.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in scientific writing and a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent teamwork skills, including working collaboratively with colleagues in the Office of the Deputy Secretary Population and Public Health & Chief Health Officer and other Population and Public Health Branches.
