About the role

We have an opportunity for a Director, Alcohol and Other Drugs Evidence Generation to join the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence to contribute to population health and broader public health objectives. The Director, Alcohol and Other Drugs Evidence Generation will provide overall leadership and direction to a range of strategic evidence generation activities to support policy, programs and health service planning.
Health Manager level 6, starting salary from $182,575 - $199,405 plus Super, with a 40 hour work week.
What you will do
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to facilitate the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for priority programs and services, utilizing mixed methods, including linked data analyses.
- Oversee the preparation and dissemination of study findings to a variety of audiences through publications, reports and presentations.
- Work closely with the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs team to design and implement data quality improvement initiatives and enhance monitoring and evaluation capability.
- Participate in and contribute to strategic and business planning processes, aligning priorities and resources to support organisational objectives and outcomes.
- Establish and sustain effective working relationships with senior policy professionals and key stakeholders across the Population and Public Health Division and the public sector more generally to optimise engagement, consultation, negotiation, alignment, implementation and response.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated equivalent senior/executive professional experience with knowledge of the NSW health system and processes of government in NSW and federally.
- Substantial senior leadership experience within an executive environment with demonstrated ability to provide leadership in issues management and proven experience in working within short timeframes on sensitive and complex matters.
- High level/advanced research, monitoring and evaluation skills. Previous experience related to alcohol and other drugs desirable.
- High level/advanced verbal and written communications skills; including the preparation and coordination of briefings, strategies, reports, and correspondence on complex matters.
- Proven superior ability to build and maintain relationships with senior executives across portfolios and across government.
