About the role


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director to lead the Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) Unit functions within the Finance Division. This role is pivotal in overseeing the delivery of accurate reporting, driving the development of best-in-class BI capabilities, and supporting operational performance, research, and strategic service management.


You will lead the development and implementation of BI strategies, ensuring the seamless integration of data from various sources, and provide leadership in the strategic direction of BI. This includes utilising statistical analytics to support funding models and the NWAU implementation across NSW Health.


What you will do


As Associate Director, you will: 

  • Lead BI strategy and drive the use of contemporary data sources for real-time analysis and reporting.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Analysts, Developers, Statisticians, and BI specialists, ensuring the timely delivery of data and analytics projects.
  • Develop and implement user-centric BI solutions that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Provide expertise in system applications and business processes, improving operations through ICT.
  • Identify automation opportunities and leverage machine learning to enhance data accessibility and support predictive insights.
  • Oversee governance and risk management across data systems and applications.
  • Provide strategic advice on statistical analytics and lead special projects as directed by the Executive Director.


About you


We are seeking a motivated and committed individual who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Extensive experience in delivering large-scale Data Marts, BI, and Analytics solutions within complex organisations.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with expertise in BI tools and the ability to interpret complex data to deliver actionable insights.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying contemporary reporting and analysis systems.
  • Strong knowledge of State and Commonwealth Health policies related to data collections and major health data systems (e.g., patient administration, HIE, EDW).
  • Demonstrated success in leading and coaching teams, building capability, and fostering a customer-focused culture.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic initiatives, managing change, and driving performance improvements across multiple projects.
