The Aboriginal Environmental Health Unit is offering 2 temporary opportunities to be part of a team improving environmental health conditions for Aboriginal people in NSW

 

  • Assist with management of Aboriginal environmental health programs including Housing for Health and the Aboriginal Environmental Health Officer Training Program.
  • Provide policy advice and develop draft policy on environmental health aspects related to Aboriginal communities.
  • Undertake all aspects of project development and implementation including project planning, monitoring and regular reporting, as an individual and as a member of project teams.
  • Implement programs to support the delivery of Aboriginal environmental health policies in NSW.

 

Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Super, with a 38-hour work week.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Assist with the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of Aboriginal environmental health policy and initiatives (including the Aboriginal Environmental Health Officer Training Program and Housing for Health) and the collection and analysis of evidence to direct future policy and programs in emerging areas.
  • Undertake and manage all aspects of project development and implementation including project planning, monitoring and regular reporting, individually and on a team basis.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships and collaborate and consult with key stakeholders in the Aboriginal environmental health field, (including with Local Health Districts, Local, State and Australian Government agencies, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and non-government and community-based organisations) and represent the Branch or Department on committees and working groups.
  • Provide advice on Aboriginal environmental health, with reference to legislative, regulatory and public health initiatives and the funding of such initiatives.
  • Prepare ministerial briefings and correspondence as needed.

About you:

 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

 

  • Tertiary qualification in environmental health, public health, built environment, and/or relevant work experience in environmental health
  • Experience in policy development, implementation and review
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Aboriginal public and environmental health
  • Understanding of the range and nature of Aboriginal environmental health issues in NSW
  • Demonstrated understanding of the elements of project management.
