Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the position of Visiting Medical Officer in Ophthalmology at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, NSW. The successful applicant will provide effective general/specialist ophthalmology services to patients of the Hunter New England Local Health District.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology and/or overseas trained specialist pathways
- Subspecialty interest in the assessment and treatment of paediatric ophthalmologic conditions is desirable
- Provide management of elective and emergency patients for ophthalmology at John Hunter Hospital, Kurri Kurri District Hospital, Belmont District
- Hospital and other facilities as needed
- Participate in on call schedules as determined by departmental needs
- Provide support and training to clinicians across multiple disciples to achieve quality education and safe practice
