About the Role

Manning Hospital is seeking a reliable, mature, and enthusiastic Telephonist to join our Emergency Department’s administrative team. 

This is a Temporary Part Time Role of 20 hours per week between the hours of 6.30am and 9pm, handing over to the night telephonist at 9pm. 
As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth communication during the most critical hours of hospital operation.
Providing a switchboard service to internal and external customers by processing a high volume of calls, paging, rostering, and general enquiries. Our service operates morning, afternoon, and night shifts, providing care seven days a week. This structure ensures comprehensive coverage and allows our team to deliver consistent, high-quality care. You’ll manage switchboard operations, respond to general enquiries, and support clinical teams by delivering timely and accurate information.

This position is ideal for someone who brings calm professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a level-headed approach to sensitive and fast-paced environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the hospital switchboard, including message delivery and paging services.
  • Greet and register patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain accurate communication records in line with policy.
  • Provide clear, timely information to clinical staff to support safe patient care.
  • Work cooperatively with administrative and clinical teams across departments.
