Where you'll be working:

You’ll be based at the Sparks service, part of the Child Development Team located in Wallsend. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Hunter region, the location offers both natural beauty and proximity to Newcastle’s vibrant coastline, local cafés, and lush parks. The role also provides opportunities for outreach at nearby centres in Raymond Terrace, Maitland, Kurri Kurri, and Toronto—giving you a chance to explore the stunning surrounds of the Lower Hunter while delivering impactful care.



About the role:

Join Sparks, a small and passionate team working with children under 10 years of age who present with Problematic Sexualised Behaviours and their families. As the district’s leading provider for the Safe Wayz program, this is a unique opportunity to gain specialised knowledge in a highly regarded area of clinical practice. A typical week may involve individual and family-based therapeutic sessions, multidisciplinary collaboration, and community outreach to regional sites—all while being supported by experienced senior clinicians. Every day offers the chance to make a tangible difference in a child’s life.



About you:

You are a compassionate, skilled therapist who is either experienced in or keen to develop expertise in working with children displaying problematic sexualised behaviours. You value a supportive, team-oriented culture and bring strong interpersonal and clinical skills to your work. You're eager to learn, collaborate across disciplines, and take on meaningful clinical challenges with curiosity and care.



Requirements:

  • Holds as a minimum a degree in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by employer or completion of the ECAV pathway (Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services - Interpersonal Trauma)
  • Eligibility or membership of the relevant professional board/ association or general full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering therapeutic interventions to children and families
  • Willingness to learn about and work within the Safe Wayz clinical framework
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and ability to travel to outreach locations as required
