Remuneration: $109.247 – $133,156 per annum (dependent on qualifications) + superannuation + salary packaging

About the role:
This dynamic and meaningful position offers the opportunity to provide psycho-social assessments and therapeutic counselling to children, young people, and adults impacted by sexual assault. You’ll also contribute to the service’s intake and triage process, as well as deliver timely psychosocial responses during crisis situations.
Participation in our well-supported after-hours roster is required, with a maximum of three shifts per month - chosen by you to suit your schedule.
You’ll receive strong support from both the Team Leader and Clinical Lead, including a comprehensive orientation and access to regular clinical supervision during work hours. We’re committed to your ongoing development, with a range of training options available through the Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV). New staff are supported to complete key foundational training, and our team meets regularly for weekly clinical reviews and monthly professional development sessions.
Where you’ll be working:
Newcastle Sexual Assault Service (NSAS) operates on Awabakal Country, based in the Harker Building at Wallsend Health Campus. We also provide a 24-hour crisis forensic medical and psycho-social response from John Hunter Hospital. Our dedicated team of counsellors and expert forensic medical staff work collaboratively to deliver trauma-informed, high-quality care.

About you:
We’re seeking a collaborative team member with experience in trauma-informed therapeutic care. You will be supported to further develop your skills in specialist counselling and case management for individuals affected by sexual assault.
Essential to this role is your demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive psycho-social assessments and providing effective crisis intervention support.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology with eligibility for membership to the AASW or registration as a Psychologist with the APHRA, with extensive clinical experience in their profession.
