About the role:

This role will see you manage an assigned clinical caseload, where you will be responsible for implementing appropriate Physiotherapy intervention and seeking assistance where required from the Specialist Senior Staff or colleagues. You will engage in all relevant supporting activities, such as case conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings and family meetings. This role involves providing Physiotherapy service to Dungog Hospital when required, as well as assisting with weekend and Public Holiday coverage when required (shared amongst other team members).

To aid your success in this role, you will be directly line managed by the Level 6 Physiotherapist Lower Hunter / Site Senior Maitland Hospital, and will be supported by the Level 4 ICU Physiotherapist, Level 3 Surgical / Hand Physiotherapist and other relevant Physiotherapists as identified in the Clinical Supervision participation. Orientation will be provided on commencement to both sites, and to the expanded Lower Hunter Physiotherapy service.

Where you’ll be working:

The Maitland Hospital is a new green field hospital relocated to Metford NSW in 2021. The Physiotherapy team covers Medical, Surgical (General / Orthopaedic), Paediatric, and Maternity, and has newly funded positions for ICU, and ED. The hospital is also home to a busy Orthopaedic / Fracture Clinic and Outpatient Physiotherapy service, as well as an assigned weekend service for clinically prioritised ward patients and ED.

Our skilled team, comprised of 14 Physiotherapists and 2 Physio assistants job sharing a fulltime role, work within a wider multidisciplinary team, and have strong collegiate processes across both Physiotherapy and other Allied Health professions in the Lower Hunter. The Maitland Hospital Physiotherapy service, in a shared process with Kurri Kurri and Cessnock Physiotherapy, provides an outreach clinical service to patients (Inpatients / and Negotiated Outpatients) to Dungog Hospital.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is able to effectively communicate and build professional rapport with patients, carers, multidisciplinary team members, and external service providers.

You will have demonstrated interest in the management of patients with complex, varying conditions. This role requires post graduate clinical experience in cute settings.

  • Physiotherapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
