About the role:

This role will see you working within the pharmacy department and across wards and units on the Tamworth campus, as well as supporting our rural hospitals. You will work with pharmacy technicians to dispense and supply medications, manage stock and support pharmacists in clinical work.

We have regular education sessions for pharmacy assistants and technicians on topics of interest, as well as comprehensive on the job training. For those that wish to pursue formal education, vocational courses in Hospital and Health System Pharmacy Services (Cert IV) are available externally, with scholarships on offer from time to time.

Tamworth Hospital is a major referral hospital located in the northern region of the Hunter New England Local Health District. Our Pharmacy Department are close-knit, and pride ourselves on providing Pharmacy services to Tamworth Hospital and other small hospitals around the New England North West.

The Pharmacy Department operates Monday to Friday (except public holidays) with staff on site between 7:00am and 4:30pm.

About You:

We are looking for a team player, as this role will involve working with others and sharing the load to achieve the days goals. You will have strong attention to detail and be accurate in your work, as safety is a priority. Showing initiative is important, as is understanding the scope of your role and when to seek assistance. An ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise effectively is needed.

Additional Information:
 

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
