About the role:
The Audiology Department at John Hunter Children’s Hospital is a small team of dedicated and compassionate specialist Audiologists, providing vital hearing services to children and young people across the Hunter New England Local Health District. Located on-site at JHCH, the department delivers both inpatient and outpatient services, including diagnostic hearing assessments in theatres or under anaesthetic when required.

JHCH Audiology also offers a limited tertiary-level service to families in Northern NSW and provides a needs-based service to adults. Referrals to the department are accepted from specialist doctors across HNE for children identified as having, or being at risk of, hearing loss.

The following services guide care and treatment for patients

  • Infant Diagnostics
  • General Paediatric Audiology (with limited adult services when needed)
  • ENT/Audiology-led pathways
