About the role:


The MUM of Maternal services role is based within the Maternity unit of a Level 4 maternal services capability division, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient services. This position involves close collaboration with MUM of Perinatal Services and the NUM of Paediatric and Newborn services, sharing resources and expertise to provide optimal care. 

The Midwifery Unit Manager oversees clinical activities to ensure high-quality, person-centred care for women, neonates, and families. They manage resources to meet service and budget goals, ensure care follows legal and evidence-based standards, and promote collaboration within the healthcare team. The role includes managing workforce functions such as recruitment, development, and performance, as well as promoting safe work practices and continuous improvement. The manager acts as a liaison between senior management and frontline staff, fostering a positive, feedback-driven work environment and ensuring compliance with health policies and safety standards.

The role is supported by a Clinical Support Officer (CSO) and experienced unit managers, ensuring guidance in leadership and people management, as well as efficient resource utilisation. Comprehensive orientation and handover will be provided upon commencement, with ongoing support for professional development and role-specific education.

Maitland Hospital is an acute facility offering a full range of acute care inpatient and outpatient services inclusive of Emergency, Intensive Care, adult inpatient, perioperative, oncology, renal, women and children services, outpatient clinics, dental, imaging and pathology services.

Requirements:
 

Our successful candidate will possess the following: 

  • Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with APRHA and with Post Graduate management Qualifications or demonstrated clinical management experience.
