About the role:
Based at John Hunter Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic, motivated Midwifery Unit Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our Postnatal Unit. Keep your clinical skills by enjoying half your time on the ward, and the other half ramping up your administrative skills in the office. On any given day, you will be attending daily bed meetings, as well as quality and executive meetings, facilitating baby discharges, undertaking risk management and auditing, interacting with NICU to create plans for baby’s care, and ensuring certain targets are maintained to keep our Baby Friendly Health Initiative accreditation. If you enjoy variety, think outside the square to facilitate solutions, and are a great communicator, we want to hear from you!

You won’t be working alone. The Postnatal team are a supportive, cohesive unit with a diverse range of skills and experience, from student midwives through to Clinical Midwife Specialists. You will be supported by the Team Leader, who maintains an open door policy for the team. Orientation and ongoing education will be tailored individually to suit your level of experience and career goals.

Requirements: 

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as well as relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in management with advanced clinical Midwifery skills.

Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
