About the role:
The Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) for Maternity at John Hunter Hospital is instrumental in leading the midwifery service to provide the highest level of maternity services. On any given day, you will be attending committee meetings as the maternity representative on a number of committees both within our hospital and across the entire district; review policies and procedures within our wards; assist John Hunter Hospital maintain is Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) accreditation; and even lead research on pereneal trauma. You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Service Manager of Maternity and Gynaecology, as well as the rest of the dynamic leadership team. Their culture is very supportive, where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront of everything they do. Monthly accountability meetings will be put in place to support your learning, mentorship is available, and you will be both encouraged and supported to attend conferences on the midwifery specialty.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with Authority to Practice with AHPRA, with at least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.
  • Approved postgraduate midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which you are appointed or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement (IHS), or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate, or AIR COVID-19 and Influenza IHS. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
