Where you’ll be working
Join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Centralised Intake team, a vital service dedicated to ensuring young people and their families receive the right support at the right time. This role offers flexibility, with the location negotiable within the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). As part of this specialist mental health service, you will be a key point of contact for young people (0–17 years) and their carers, using telephone and virtual care to assess needs and connect them with appropriate services.
About the role
As a CAMHS Centralised Intake (CCI) clinician, you will:
- Provide comprehensive intake assessments, ensuring timely and appropriate service linkage for young people.
- Utilise telephone and virtual care to engage with young people, families, and service providers.
- Apply a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and family-centred approach to all interactions.
- Conduct bio-psycho-social-cultural assessments and mental health risk assessments, using sound clinical judgment.
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective care pathways.
- Engage and support young people experiencing emotional vulnerability, using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
About you
We are looking for an experienced mental health clinician who:
- Has highly developed verbal and written communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
- Is confident in clinical decision-making and stakeholder consultation.
- Has demonstrated experience in mental health risk assessment and complex case management.
- Is passionate about engaging and supporting young people and their families.
- Works effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
