Applications Close: Sunday, 24th November 2024

About the role:
This role will see you work as part of our multidisciplinary team, collaborating with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. You will provide therapy, conduct assessments, and participate in treatment planning for patients with diverse mental health needs in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. You will work with individuals facing acute or severe mental health crises. Ensuring effective continuity of care as clients transition between community-based care and inpatient care is crucial - this involves maintaining strong links and effective liaison with local general hospitals, acute psychiatric units, and specialist tertiary referral units. Input into care planning and discharge planning involving other community services is essential.

The role also involves collaborating with local psychiatrists and other specialists in client care and maintaining strong links with local GPs to facilitate their primary care role in treating mental illness. Managing complex clinical issues with multiple stakeholders while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries is a key aspect of the job.

To aid your success in this role, you will receive comprehensive orientation and training, along with ongoing education and professional development opportunities to ensure continuous growth and improvement.

Where you’ll be working:
The Manning Community Mental Health Team provides comprehensive mental health services to the communities of Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster, and Taree, located on the Lower Mid North Coast. You will work within our Older Persons Team – where we are proud to foster a supportive environment, ensuring high-quality, consumer-centred care.

We actively support the development of leadership skills and education through organisational learning pathways or external learning providers, with leave options available to facilitate learning opportunities.

About you:
We are looking for someone who can provide high-quality, patient focused, evidence-based psychological services to improve the health outcomes of people utilising the service. Ensuring patient and/or consumer care is delivered within professional, organisational, legal, and ethical boundaries and reflects best evidence-based knowledge and practice is non-negotiable.

You must demonstrate flexibility and innovation in clinical service provision, with strong time management and workload prioritisation skills.

Requirements:
  • Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
