About the role:
It is a permanent pharmacist role one day per week based within the Manning Base Hospital Pharmacy Department and Drug and Alcohol Services. You will be providing pharmaceutical care and medication management to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, to support the safe and effective use of medications as part of an integrated treatment plan.

The key responsibilities are:
  • Dispense medications prescribed for patients on the opioid treatment program.
  • Collaborate with the medical and nursing staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery of medications.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations related to accountable medications, including proper documentation and monitoring of prescriptions.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing medication safety and patient outcomes.


The applicant will receive on the job mentoring and support and they will also have the opportunity to attend both internal and external continuing professional develop opportunities.


About you:
The key skills / capabilities / attributes we are looking for in a potential candidate include:

  • Understanding of pharmacology and the use of medications in addiction treatment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical considerations related to controlled substances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients, multidisciplinary team, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.


Requirements:

  • Proof of eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration agency, Pharmacy. Must be able to demonstrate fulfilment of the criteria for grade 2 pharmacist in accordance with the Health Employees' Pharmacists (State) Award.
