About the role: The Clinical Midwife Educator (CME) for Maternity at John Hunter Hospital is instrumental in providing leading education to our midwives, in turn allowing them to provide the highest level of maternity services. On any given day, you will be you will be involved in providing education to junior staff, undertaking patient education and giving birthing classes, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Midwifery Unit Managers and Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery (Maternity & Gynaecology), as well as the Senior Midwives. The culture is very supportive, where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront of everything they do. Mentorship is available to support your growth, and you will be both encouraged and pursue further training and development as you grow your career, including secondments to different areas within the Midwifery service.

It isthe leading health facility in Newcastle and supports all levels of complex midwifery and birthing services. Requirements:
Registered Midwife with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA and hold relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.

This is a Category A position. Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement (IHS), or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate, or AIR COVID-19 and Influenza IHS. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
