About the role:
The Manning Mental Health Service is seeking an Allied Health Assistant to join their Mental Health Rehabilitation Program. The successful applicant will assist with providing occupational and recreational interventions within a residential mental health rehabilitation setting for consumers with complex clinical presentations. In consultation with the Rehabilitation Coordinator, the successful applicant will plan and deliver individualised rehabilitation programs and facilitate group programs.

In consultation with the Occupational Therapist:
  • Plan individualised timetabled rehabilitation programs that provide appropriate activity choice and structured routines to promote independence.
  • Facilitate /co-facilitate group programs and assist with preparation of resources required for groups offered by the service, as negotiated.
  • Implement intervention plans with identified consumers including ADL and community access programmes, ensuring the assistance given supports the achievement of care plan goals.
  • Motivate and encourage the participation of consumers in the structured activity program through respectful therapeutic communication and engagement strategies.


Undertake tasks that support program delivery:

  • Research, develop, update, and adapt activities for use in the program.
  • Plan and then purchase and prepare items to enable specific programs to occur.
  • Preparing residential accommodation for the consumer.
  • Assist with cleaning of residential accommodation and maintain and store any equipment/resources required, ensuring all equipment is clean, safe, and functional.
  • Assist with the monitoring and ordering of goods and services to support the efficient running of the Individual Living Program.


This position is based on a 7 day rotating roster working 8.00am – 4.30pm, days and hours negotiable.

You will be supported through orientation to the Mental Health Service, as well as ongoing in-service opportunities and encouragement to complete in-house and external training where relevant to the role.

About you:
You will be a motivated and enthusiastic worker, who is able to contribute their knowledge in mental health rehabilitation to be part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be directly supported by the Rehabilitation Coordinator and the Service Manager, as well as the broader Manning Mental Health team.
