You will be working on Awabakal Country at the John Hunter Hospital (JHH).

This is an exciting opportunity to join our organisation, focused on an excellent patient care and first-class service delivery. The casual administration officer will be used to backfill unplanned leave within all our departments within Outpatients, Mailroom and Switchboard. Being a casual is an amazing opportunity to get your foot in the door into Health and expand on your administration skills through various admin positions. 

We have casual vacancies within our outpatient clinics, outpatient contact centre and switchboard. No two days are the same.



What you will be doing

Working within the JHH Outpatients large service providing access and support for outpatient specialties across John Hunter Hospital. Shifts range from 6am to 6pm. You will be located at either John Hunter Hospital or James Fletcher. In clinic you will be arriving patients for their appointments, booking following up appointments, administration preparation for busy clinics. In the contact centre you will be taking calls from the general public and GPs in relation to appointment bookings, booking appointments, general enquiries, communicating with clinical staff. 

Our switchboard operators are responsible for the efficient and effective provision of the switchboard services to all incoming call the John Hunter Hospital. The Switchboard is a 24/7 service that manages thousands of calls daily from internal and external stakeholders. The Switchboard staff are the front lone of the hospital, helping our community get the information they require in a timely and professional manner.


About You

The successful candidate will be reliable with excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will have computer knowledge, retain information well, the potential to work shift work as we do have a 24/7 service, great phone manner and a background in customer service. The position also requires you to have a flexible attitude and the capacity to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels of the organisation.
