About the role:

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Health Worker looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others? We are currently seeking a culturally responsive and empathetic team member to join our Palliative Care service at Moree Community Health.

In this deeply rewarding role, you’ll work within your individual scope of practice to support patients and families navigating grief, loss, and end-of-life care. Your focus will be on providing holistic, patient-centred support that prioritises comfort, quality of life, and cultural safety. Depending on your qualifications, you will also contribute to clinical care where appropriate.As part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with experienced nurses, allied health professionals (including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians), and medical staff to ensure palliative care patients receive the support they need - physically, emotionally, and culturally. Your voice and perspective will be essential in shaping how care is delivered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring it is respectful, inclusive, and grounded in cultural understanding.

Where you’ll be working:

This position is based at Moree Community Health, where you’ll be a valued member of the Palliative Care team. You’ll work alongside a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Consultant to deliver home-based and community-focused care that reflects the unique needs of our rural and regional population.

You’ll have the opportunity to build genuine connections with patients and families, providing continuity of care that extends beyond the clinic. Whether you’re supporting someone through end-of-life planning or helping a family navigate the challenges of loss, your work will be grounded in respect, trust, and cultural sensitivity.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) and a current authority to practice as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
