About the Role:

We’re on the lookout for a proactive and technically sharp Voice Network Engineer to play a key role in delivering and maintaining telephony services across the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). Working closely with IT and Corporate Services teams, you’ll help ensure our voice network infrastructure is modern, reliable, and fit for purpose.

From carrier services to PABXs (IP and TDM), you'll be part of a collaborative team that keeps critical communications running smoothly across a vast and complex healthcare environment. This is a role for someone who doesn’t just react to problems — they anticipate them and build smarter systems that prevent them altogether.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver and maintain District-wide telephony services in collaboration with internal IT and Corporate Services teams
  • Manage and support all voice systems, including carrier services, IP/TDM PABXs, and infrastructure
  • Carry out Moves, Adds and Changes (MACs), and order and provision new telephony services
  • Troubleshoot issues and coordinate fault resolution with external service providers
  • Support the rollout and upgrade of telephony systems across new and existing healthcare sites
  • Assist in developing strategic plans for future voice technology solutions within the District

About You:

You’re a voice systems specialist with a knack for precision and a passion for making complex tech run like clockwork. You thrive in a collaborative environment, have strong communication skills, and are comfortable juggling operational needs with strategic thinking.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Solid experience in managing telephony infrastructure and services
  • Hands-on experience with IP/TDM PABX systems and voice network upgrades
  • A methodical approach to troubleshooting and vendor coordination
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Strategic thinking with a solutions-focused mindset

Why Join HNELHD?

  • A dynamic, tech-forward environment with major impact across healthcare operations
  • A stunning work location just minutes from Newcastle’s beaches and Lake Macquarie
  • Flexibility, career progression, and leadership that backs your growth
  • Generous salary packaging and benefits
  • A workplace that values innovation, autonomy, and community impact
