Applications Close: Sunday, 11th May 2025
About the Service:
Our renal service is a dynamic, supportive environment made up of 20–24 passionate nurses, including both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs). Uniquely, our ENs enjoy an expanded scope of practice, allowing them to work similarly to RNs — a rare opportunity that enhances skills and professional satisfaction.
We work across three main locations:
- Dialysis Ward (Level 3): A six-chair unit supporting admitted patients needing inpatient dialysis.
- Nita Reed Renal Unit: A 10-bed outpatient and community health unit for stable dialysis patients.
- Satellite Unit at Foster: A six-bed unit within a private hospital, caring for very stable patients independently.
Our team is known for being genuine patient advocates. We come from a range of multicultural backgrounds, enriching our service with diverse perspectives and experiences. We celebrate milestones like maternity leave and enjoy afternoon teas together, creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment — even if we mostly keep social activities to work hours.
About the Role:
You'll work morning or afternoon shifts, Monday to Saturday — no nights or on-call.
Key tasks include getting dialysis machines ready, managing a 1:3 or 1:4 patient load, attending safety huddles, checking blood pressures and weights, and supporting patients through their treatments (4.5–5.5 hours plus setup time). You'll also perform cannulations and follow a primary nursing model for patient care.
We make sure you feel supported from day one, with a four-week novice training package available for newer staff. You’ll be working alongside a great team, with loads of support from our CNE, CNC, CNS plus our NUM and Clinical NUM. You’ll be buddied up with one of our Senior RNs to help you settle in and build your skills. We’re big on professional development and really encourage everyone to keep learning and growing. There are plenty of opportunities to step up and progress your career.
About you:
- Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence to speak up and ask questions
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Commitment to high-quality patient care
Whether you're early in your career or an experienced nurse, if you're looking for a new opportunity, we encourage you to apply!
