About Us
Hunter Integrated Pain Service (HIPS) is a tertiary-level, outpatient chronic pain service based at John Hunter Hospital. We provide interdisciplinary care for people experiencing chronic complex pain, cancer-related pain, and end-of-life pain.
Our team includes pain medicine specialists, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, a social worker, and a dietitian. We work closely with primary care and specialist services across HNE Health including acute pain, drug & alcohol, and rehabilitation services.

About the Role
You’ll support patients through individual appointments, group programs, pain procedures, and follow-up care, including over the phone. Our patients often live with significant distress and social disadvantage, making this work both meaningful and complex.
You’ll be part of a collaborative and experienced interdisciplinary team, with opportunities for learning, feedback, and professional growth.
What You’ll Bring
- Registered Nurse with at least 5 years’ experience, ideally in pain, recovery, rehab, or anaesthetic nursing
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Compassionate, reliable, flexible, and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

- An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time and temporary part time vacancies.
- To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
