About the Role

Manning Hospital is seeking a reliable, mature, and enthusiastic Telephonist to join our Emergency Department’s administrative team. This is a casual opportunity offering overnight shifts in a vital front-line role. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth communication during the most critical hours of hospital operation.

You’ll manage switchboard operations, respond to general enquiries, and support clinical teams by delivering timely and accurate information. This position is ideal for someone who brings calm professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a level-headed approach to sensitive and fast-paced environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the hospital switchboard, including message delivery and paging services.
  • Greet and register patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain accurate communication records in line with policy.
  • Provide clear, timely information to clinical staff to support safe patient care.
  • Work cooperatively with administrative and clinical teams across departments.


About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Must be able to work Night Shifts in a 7 day a week rotating roster 9pm-7am.
  • Communicates clearly and compassionately with people from all walks of life.
  • Is confident working independently overnight, yet values team collaboration.
  • Possesses solid computer and telephony/switchboard skills.
  • Remains composed under pressure and handles competing priorities with grace.
  • Brings a mature outlook and life experience to handle varied and sensitive interactions.
  • Has prior experience in a healthcare, customer service, or high-volume call setting (desirable).
