Where you'll be working:

Based in the heart of Armidale, you’ll be part of the New England North West’s Specialist Palliative Care Service—supporting clients in their homes and community settings. Nestled in a picturesque rural landscape, Armidale offers the ideal balance of a relaxed lifestyle and professional fulfilment, surrounded by national parks, a vibrant arts scene, and a strong sense of community.

The service is a dedicated multidisciplinary team consisting of Registered Nurses, a Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, and a Palliative Care Medical Officer, supported by Clinical Nurse Consultants and the Community Health Nurse Educator. Together, we deliver compassionate, expert care to clients with life-limiting illness across the sector.

About the role:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Palliative Care, you’ll deliver complex, specialised nursing care to clients and families navigating life-limiting illness. Your role will involve home visits, holistic assessments, symptom management, and emotional support as part of a skilled and compassionate team. You’ll collaborate with health professionals and families to ensure patients receive individualised care tailored to their needs, preferences, and values.

This role is based in Armidale and supports community palliative care clients across the New England North West, providing a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact in rural and regional health.


About you:

You are an experienced Registered Nurse with post-graduate qualifications or significant experience in palliative care. You bring empathy, expertise, and a calm presence to complex care situations. You’ll also bring:

  • Strong communication and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team
  • Confidence in clinical decision-making and patient advocacy
  • A commitment to person-centred, culturally respectful care

Requirements:

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Relevant post-registration qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in the palliative care specialty, or equivalent experience deemed appropriate
  • Current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel for work purposes
