About the opportunity

As Principal Analyst, Evidence and Evaluation, you will lead the implementation of the capital evaluation framework and manage the evaluation schedule for major health projects across NSW. Your work will assess whether intended benefits and objectives have been realised and help ensure future infrastructure investments are more effective, efficient, and sustainable.

In this critical role, you’ll work closely with Local Health Districts/Specialty Health Networks, and the HI Project teams to gather evidence, tailor evaluation approach, and report on outcomes and findings at both the system and project level. You’ll build and manage a central evidence database that feeds into future business cases, economic frameworks, and strategic planning.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re skilled at managing complex data, aligning diverse perspectives, and delivering clear, meaningful insights in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment. This is your opportunity to embed a culture of evidence-informed investment across NSW Health.

This is a permanent, ongoing role. Remuneration will be determined with the successful candidate.

Please note that as Health Infrastructure is an organisation of NSW Health, the successful applicant must reside in NSW or be willing to relocate if appointed.

This recruitment may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future roles (ongoing or temporary) that may arise over the next 18 months.

About you

You are an experienced professional with a proven ability to lead complex project reviews and assess multifaceted outcomes against intended objectives. With a strong understanding of NSW Treasury and NSW Health planning, evaluation, and investment decision requirements, you can lead and manage the ongoing improvement of an evaluation framework that meets strategic and operational needs.

You bring excellent analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to extract insight from incomplete or inconsistent data and present it in a way that drives meaningful action. You understand the importance of aligning project-level findings with broader NSW Health and Treasury expectations and are comfortable working across multiple levels of the system.

You remain composed under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines without losing focus on quality. With a relevant qualification in economics, evaluation or social research, public health, or a related field, you're ready to help shape the next generation of evidence-informed health infrastructure planning.
