What you'll be doing

The Category Manager is responsible for the effective management of a broad subset of categories, the effective influencing of stakeholders across NSW Health and management of supplier relationships within the subset of categories. This includes developing and implementing commercial strategies with relevant Stakeholders. It involves the identification, development, approval, implementation and reporting of commercial and procurement strategies aimed to achieve the best value for money outcomes for NSW Health and operation of supply chain services.

The position is responsible for commercial negotiations with suppliers on arrangements valued at up to $50M pa in spend per project and the development and implementation of strategies to maximise commercial and health outcomes and minimise operational and commercial risk associated with NSW Health operations. A key activity is the identification, promotion and implementation of innovative ways to bring value to NSW Health through its supplier dealings, in the initial sourcing activity as well as through the life of the contract, via world class Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).

Selection Criteria

  1. Extensive experience and a record of achievement in procurement and category management in a large and complex service environment, including relevant qualifications or equivalent. This includes extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in commercial and contract negotiations and contract and supplier management.
  2. Demonstrated understanding and experience in high level contract management, including interpretation of legal contracts, managing vendor performance, and meeting KPIs.
  3. Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from numerous sources, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused solutions.
  4. Excellent organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise, multi-task, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.
  5. Well-developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing key stakeholders, suppliers and customers to influence and achieve optimal business outcomes.
  6. Proven capacity to contribute to and implement strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, improve performance and project manage.
  7. Capacity and willingness, including current NSW driver’s license, to travel to HealthShare NSW business and service locations throughout NSW, which may include overnight stay in regional / remote areas.
