Selection Criteria

  1. Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, evidence of a Medical qualification that is registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, current valid Working with Children Check
  2. Evidence of a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
  3. Demonstrated significant experience in the field of Psychiatry and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team
  5. Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to area of practice and a willingness to commit to an equitable hospital on-call roster.
  6. Willingness to teach medical students and other staff of the hospital when reasonably requested with demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement and peer review, equal employment opportunity and Occupational Health Safety and Rehabilitation
  7. A creative and professional interest in nurturing a novel model of care, with flexibility to adapt to a complex environment and willingness to contribute to its success
  8. Subspecialty training or recognised certification in any or a combination of the following areas would be desirable for selection of the successful candidate: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Drug and Alcohol Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Electroconvulsive Therapy and/or Psychotherapy.
