This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What you'll be doing
  • Mental Health Registered Nurses perform specialist mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, care planning and case management services for people experiencing mental health and drug and alcohol problems.  
  • Provide mental health and drug and alcohol education and training, promotion and prevention activities for communities, key services and carers.
  • This position will be required to participate in Outreach and leave relief for the MHDA Service as required.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  • Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a minimum of two years clinical experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal, with intermediate computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to working with service partners, including carers and NGO's.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the recovery model and patient centred care.
  • Current licence to drive in NSW.
