What you'll be doing

The Nurse Manager Policy Practice and Initiatives position is responsible for the provision of operational and strategic leadership and management of nursing and midwifery policy, practice, professional practice, programs and initiatives to achieve quality patient outcomes

Skills and Knowledge

  1. Current nursing registration (as well preferably as a midwife) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with relevant tertiary and or post graduate qualifications in health management; health education; health policy and planning or similar; or working towards same. Evidence of current working with Children’s Check.
  2. Demonstrated advanced communication and people skills include verbal and written forms of communication; including briefs and policy submissions and group facilitation.
  3. Demonstrated experience in a nursing leadership role involving nursing and midwifery professional practice, change management, conflict resolution, motivational and team development skills together with the ability to apply complex problem solving strategies.
  4. Proven ability to function effectively as part of a senior management team and to work successfully with other professionals, disciplines and Ministry of Health pillars in the management and leadership of health care services.
  5. Broad clinical experience and operational management expertise at a senior level within a health care environment, including strategic planning, the development, implementation & evaluation of organisational Strategic & Business Plans and Project Management.
  6. Evidence of successful achievement in financial management & the ability to develop financial efficiency strategies and achieve goals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to interpret and facilitate the implementation and development of policy/guidelines, evidence based practice and ensure quality processed are in list with accreditation standards of clinical governance.
  8. Evidence of current class C Drivers licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances within the Health District.
