This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

Packages may consist of family and compassionate travel assistance, an upfront Rural Recruitment Cash Bonus upon appointment, contributions to professional development, utility reimbursements and study assistance, in addition to relocation benefits and accommodation assistance.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing

  • Facilitate the co-design, development and implementation of strategies aimed at coordinating participation from consumers, families and carers involved in MHDA services for improved service planning and delivery
  • Input on policy and processes within the MHDA services to ensure active consumer and carer engagement is had at all levels of service
  • Coordinate and manage the Family and Carer Mental Health Program and family sensitive practice initiatives across the LHD
  • Provide line management to the Consumer Engagement Coordinator MHDA and the additional positions as required.
  • Work closely with consumers, families and carers to identify their needs and assist them to provide input into into the development of mental health and drug and alcohol service delivery through a variety of methods including Participant Story Collection.
  • Lead and facilitate the MHDA Consumer and Carer Action Group (CCAG).
  • Participate in the development and strategic management of the peer workforce, including mentoring, training, supervision and support.
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with relevant organizations to improve service integration and enhance continuity of care for consumers, families and carers of MHDA services.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or significant knowledge and work experience in consumer and carer participation / support.
  • Demonstrated experience in consumer and carer participation in MHDA services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues impacting on consumers, carers and families and how to address them.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with NGOs as partners, in particular in developing collaborative work plans / networks.
  • Demonstrated superior personal qualities, including work ethic, ability to be well organised, emotional intelligence and positive influence on the workplace.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, leading and developing the capability of a team.
  • Current C class driver's license and willingness to travel for work purposes.
