This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

Packages may consist of family and compassionate travel assistance, an upfront Rural Recruitment Cash Bonus upon appointment, contributions to professional development, utility reimbursements and study assistance, in addition to relocation benefits and accommodation assistance.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing

  • Provide expert clinical advice, clinical organisation, leadership and consultancy services within the diabetes specialty across multiple service groups, target populations and health care professionals.
  • Deliver high quality clinical services in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams within the Far West Local Health District and externally in conjunction with the Collaborative Commissioning.
  • Leads and contributes to the development and management of clinical processes, policies and procedures to promote the advancement of clinical practice.
  • Undertake service planning and strategic planning to identify and plan for future needs and issues.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years fulltime equivalent post registration clinical experience including 3 years' experience in the specialty and post graduate qualifications relevant to the specialty.
  • Demonstrated effective communication including verbal, written and interpersonal skills and advanced information technology skills to provide complex consultancy services and influence innovative nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and clinical leadership in diabetes related care .
  • Demonstrated ability to identify education needs and develop education plans and resource material for patients/clients and health care professionals.
  • Current license to drive in NSW with the ability to drive for work purposes, including occasional long distances and overnight stays.
