About the Opportunity

Drive and direct all recruitment activity for identified and targeted aboriginal employment opportunities

  • Create and execute recruitment campaigns; job vacancies and targeted marketing material that will effectively reach aboriginal stakeholder, create interest in NSW Health roles, increasing applications and appointments
  • Actively champion, support and attend community events and celebrations in order to build networks and relationships to increase employment opportunities and build FWLHD recruitment pool.
  • The primary focus of this role is to deliver recruitment activity aligned to the FWLHD Aboriginal Health Workforce Strategy and Reconciliation Plan with a specific focus in assisting FWLHF achieve its objective for reaching 13% Aboriginal workforce representation.

The Far West Local Health District is one of 15 LHDs under NSW Health, providing high quality public health services to the communities in far west NSW including,  the Barkandji, the Muthi Muthi, the Wilyakali, the Ngiyampaa, the Wadigali, the Malyangaba and the Wangkumara).  Our vision is to create excellence in rural and remote healthcare.

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible

  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. Being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW).
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to provide advice and options to all levels of staff and management.
  • Evidence of effective time management capacity working in a complex and high-volume environment, with the ability to successfully manage competing demands and deliver outcomes on time, while working with colleagues to provide customer focused solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of human resources, payroll, eRecruitment systems and other computer applications such as email, intranet, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven commitment to effective working relationships and service excellence, underpinned by the NSW Health CORE Values.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/ travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
