We have an exciting opportunity in the Cloud Services Division for multiple Principal Engineers.

The Principal Engineer role is a senior member of the team responsible for designing, planning, and managing the platform that enables and secures cloud service deployments for NSW Health. You’ll be working closely with ICT colleagues across NSW Local Health Districts and eHealth NSW to deliver secure cloud infrastructure to meet business outcomes. Working in a collaborative environment and helping to drive continuous learning and professional growth for the team, you will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience with the latest cloud technologies and best practices.

What you will do

As a Principal Engineer in Cloud Services Division you will:

  • Drive technology development including roadmaps and transition plans.
  • Lead collaboration to prioritise design trade-offs, risks, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead the team to execute complex migration, implementation, and transformation activities, that align to technology solutions, services, and components roadmaps.
  • Drive the development and improvement of coding and testing standards, focussing on security, functionality, supportability, and efficiency.
  • Ensure a consistent high level of platform security, optimization, resiliency, stability, and availability.

About you

The skills, knowledge and experience we are looking for in you are:

  • Superior experience leading the design, build and operations of Cloud Services infrastructure in a complex shared service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with modern ICT Delivery and Operational practices, with the ability to lead and champion continuous improvement and a learning culture. 
  • Advanced skills with Infrastructure-as-Code languages and, version control, including cloud native components and services like Cloud Formation, Terraform & AWS, or Azure SDKs. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and negotiation skills influencing key stakeholders and customers to achieve optimal business outcomes.

  • This recruitment may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future roles (ongoing or temporary) that may arise over the next 18 months.
  • To be eligible for this role, you must have current Australian work rights (Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen with a current passport, or hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia).
  • Exempt' is defined as a fixed term contract with a length greater than 13 weeks.
