We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Allied Health Service team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive psychological treatment services and limited neuropsychological assessment to Allied Health inpatients within the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). You will address a wide range of psychological conditions resulting from disease or trauma, including mood disorders (e.g. depression), behavioural disorders (e.g. challenging behaviours) and cognitive disorders (e.g. caused by traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease).

About the Role

Based at Gosford Hospital, in this role, you will respond to referrals for inpatients, delivering clinical psychological interventions as needed. You will assess, formulate, and implement treatment plans based on evidence-based practices, and use appropriate psychological assessments for diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients. Collaboration with other caregivers and relevant agencies is essential to ensure integrated patient care. Additionally, you will provide psychological therapy to help patients manage their conditions and their impacts, advocate for patients' informed decisions, and offer consultation services as required. Participation in professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research activities is also expected.

You will be part of the Adult Allied Health Psychology Service within the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). As a member of the Psychology Department, you will adhere to professional codes of conduct, promote excellence, and benefit from opportunities for ongoing professional development. Your work will contribute to maintaining high clinical and professional standards as outlined by the Psychology Board of Australia and CCLHD policies. You will also engage in multidisciplinary collaboration, providing holistic and patient-centered care across the health district. The role includes offering clinical supervision to postgraduate psychology students if endorsed as an AHPRA supervisor.

About You 
You have: 
  • A 4-year degree in Psychology from a recognised tertiary institution and a two-year Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology. You will also be registered with the Psychologists Board of Australia and endorsement (or progressing towards) in the area of Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and treatment models and techniques.
  • A a current Australian Drivers' Licence and have sound computer skills.
