Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) team. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate and provide high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with mental health issues, drug and alcohol concerns, and complex psychosocial needs. You will work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team to manage patients exhibiting high-risk behaviours and comorbidities.
About The Role
As a Registered Nurse in the PECC, you will be integral to assessment, planning, and implementation of strategies aimed at improving the care and outcomes for consumers experiencing mental health crises. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with other mental health services across CCLHD and surrounding districts, ensuring smooth referral, admission, and discharge planning processes.
Key Responsibilities

Provide specialised nursing care, including assessment, planning, and the implementation of care strategies for patients with mental health, drug and alcohol, and psychosocial issues.

Manage patients who present with high-risk behaviours, complex needs, or comorbidities, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal consumer care and improve the consumer journey through the PECC.

Liaise with mental health services across CCLHD and surrounding districts regarding referrals, admissions, and discharge planning.

Promote and deliver consumer-centred care, always keeping the well-being and dignity of the patient as the primary focus.
- Work a seven-day rotating roster, including morning, evening, and night shifts.

Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in the mental health nursing field.

About You
- You have Current authority to practice from AHPRA as a Registered Nurse who has extensive full time equivalent post registration mental health experience and who has, or is working towards approved post registration qualifications relevant to mental health nursing or is working towards same.
- You have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with the flexibility to work a rotating roster.
- You have demonstrated experience in mental health clinical assessment, mental health triage, mental state examination, mental health risk assessment and acute/crisis interventions.
