Take on a leadership role and make a difference in health information management across our hospitals.

The Health Information Services (HIS) Team Leader position is a critical role within the Central Coast Local Health District, providing key leadership and support to a dedicated team of HIS Clerks at both Wyong and Gosford Hospitals. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine clinical and administrative expertise while mentoring staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the HIS department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the full range of duties as an HIS Clerk, including the scanning and management of medical records.

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to HIS staff, ensuring high standards of practice and efficiency.

  • Support to Clinicians: Offer first-level support to clinicians in accessing and viewing scanned medical records.

  • Team Management: Oversee daily operations, demonstrate leadership in managing workflows, and maintain effective communication within the team.

  • Service Delivery: Ensure the HIS team meets service requirements, working across both Wyong and Gosford Hospitals to maintain consistent service delivery.

  • Rotating Shifts: Operate on a 6-day rotating roster, covering shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm, to meet the needs of the department. Monday to Saturday.

About You:

  • Experience & Skills: Experience in health information management or a related administrative field, with a solid understanding of medical record-keeping systems.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, providing direction, support, and training to staff members.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently while ensuring high standards of service.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with clinicians and staff across multiple departments.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work across both Wyong and Gosford Hospitals to meet service needs.
  • Availability: Ability to work on a rotating roster, including weekends and evenings as required.
